Blog 4: Summary of "Climate of compromise"

Before Copenhagen summit begin, there are many different perspectives about the success of this conference. Copenhagen summit have partially attained some successes because many countries promise to cut a remarkable amount of emissions and they have already started to consider seriously their own emissions. To encounter the climate change, all nations have to reduce their emissions in a long term. Developed countries must accept to decrease the amount of emission substantially while developing ones must control their greenhouse gases. Moreover, developing countries also have to improve their technology with the help of developed countries. Another trouble which developing countries definitely face is financial concern. An international fund is a solution for this problem and funds should be distributed smoothly and effectively to countries in need. There are a lot of things for countries to do and it is impossible to solve all at a time, but leaders can make strong actions based on national ability. All countries have to be patient to solve this global problem.

  1. Climate change has been a problem faced by global countries since few decades ago. As a result of thriving development of technology and increasing consumption of petroleum during these few centuries, especially the period after the Industrial Revolution, more green house gases and unrecycable materials were produced and are still being produced. From plenty of researches that have been carried out regarding the issue of climate change, we can not deny that the root of climate change lies in human activities of urbanization. Deforestation, tremendous production of unrecyclable garbage, serious pollutions of air and water, huge consumption of petroleum which causes the emission of green house gases, these are what happening everyday in our surroundings yet have not been treated appropriately. People think they are doing the things so-called civilization yet they are actually destroying the planet. People should realize that we do live in the earth and we do need her for the suppliance of daily resources for living. Destroying the planet will eventually destroy ourselves. Therefore, on the point of handling the climate change, not only the governments should carry out their promises, people should also play a role rather than finding a lot of excuses.
